I picked up a few things today:

Silent Hill

Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes

I've been trying to be good, considering I'll probably be spending too much money at Christmas time, I'd like to have the finances reigned in for now...

Superb film! Ben and I are going to see Del Toro's latest, Pan's Labyrinth, tomorrow night at Fright Fest... our review should appear on show 35, early next week. Word of mouth is very strong...

Is it okay for me to admit that I picked up a really cheap ex rental copy of Spy Kids 3D ?. (I'm a 3D fanatic, what can I say !). It didn't come with any glasses but the ones I have for Amityville 3 work really well with it. In fact, I think its easily the best 3D i've seen on a DVD.

i too am a 3d fan! and i really love robert rodriguez's stuff. i saw spykids3d at the cinema when it came out and loved it and bought the dvd soon after. could be a coincidence you buying this but i picked up "the adventures of sharkboy and lavagirl in 3d" yesterday for a couple of quid to complete my rodriguez collection 8)

i suppose if the likes of james cameron has his way, we should (hope, hope) be experiencing more 3d films in the future

check out the mark kermode film review podcast/radio5 thing from 25th august - disappointingly without doctor kermode (on his hols), but the review "severance" which i saw on saturday and is great (v funny v gory and v british!), and there is a nice guillermo del toro interview too - obviously chatting about "pans labyrinth" and frightfest too.

I was disgustingly mainstream today and picked up "The Simpsons: Season Eight." But I did have the "Apocalypse Now: Complete Dossier" set in my hand for a good long while, as it would be an excellent excuse to replace my laserdisc, and with some great DVD supplements to boot. But I ended up putting it back to buy the new CD/DVD combo of "Pet Sounds" that was released today. Also picked up a copy of Bob Dylan's autobiography, Chronicles, off the clearence rack in hardcover. So a pretty good day for ol' Joe.

Probably best. I hate the way they have split up both version of the film onto two discs so you have to switch discs have way through. You never had to before with these films.
No "Heart of Darkness" either.
