I really did enjoy the extras on this! Especially the commentary by Brian Cox!

I'm in the minority, but I think Sunshine was brilliant all the way through (yes, even the final act). I did watch it with Brian Cox (the physicist, not the actor) commentary, and it really was an engaging and interesting listen.

Yes I agree I enjoyed the final scene in the film too. Infact it was def 1 of my fav films from last year. I even had extremely high expectations of it which I must say it didn't quite meet... but I was still thoroughly entertained all the way through!

Fav bit of course being the flashing images of the crew members of Icaras I as they board the ship!

That was a very creepy scene. I think that Sunshine did a good job of capturing the wonder and terror of outer space. It's the movie that Event Horizon could have been, were it in better hands.

Still, nothing beats 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I really enjoyed Sunshine as well. The subliminal images were one of the few things in recent years that genuinely, seriously creeped me out in the cinema - I remember having an urge to run out! I realise that most people had an urge to run out during the 'er, how are we going to end this?' final act but that's different...

Ah but you see I loved the ending because it was so uplifting, which I think makes a nice change.

I kind of feel that after the carnage and tragic waste/loss of life on board the ship during the killing spree... in addition to weight of the idea behind the whole film - that life on earth is inevitably doomed... that the way Cillian Murphy's character (can't remember his name, was it Capa?) embraces the sunlight is quite beautiful.

It made me think of him enbracing death in a spiritual way. And I am in no way religious. I mean a kind of personal fulfillment kind of way.

I just found it an unexpected emotion to have after a film of mainly action, drama and horror (all of which I also loved).

Overall a great movie, really enjoyed it but I often feel (and did here) that directors should resist the urge to tie things up neatly at the end. Great soundtrack, too, anyone know if it'll be on sale soon (I understand there were some legal issues preventing it up to now)?

Damn right! NOTHING beats 2001, the greatest film ever made

Well, I'm in that minority too! I think the final act, butt of many many complaints, was an appropriate and nailbiting way to end the film. I had read so many reviews that bitched about the end of the film that I expected to hate it, but in fact at the end I was wondering what all the bloody fuss was about! In a film about the sun as an entity to worship and the sheer terror the vastness of space can inspire, the final act was entirely appropriate.

It was a great way to bring the tension to a head. I love the way Boyle shot Pinbacker, never getting a really good look at him, everything's blurry and insane when he's on the screen, he felt like this terrible demon that had been awoken in space. I didn't think it became a stupid slasher movie, which is what the main consensus seems to be on this movie. It was great, and was in my top five for 2007.

Whilst I love the film, I do think that introducing Freddy Kruger ( might as well have been ! ) didnt fit well. Thankfully, it doesnt grate too much, and the real ending inside the sun remains stunning, beautiful, poetic....... a joy !

Did anyone ever see that movie set on a plane with Cillian Murphy..... Red Eye, that's the one! I read bad reviews and never saw it. ??

I actually thought Red Eye was a good little thriller. Fast paced, well played especially by Muprhy, and short enough not to run out of steam. Hardly a classic, but underrated and worth 90 minutes of your time.

Cheers, I may well try and catch this one then. I can't remember who else was in it.

What else has Mr Murphy been in? I can only think of 28 Days Later off the top of my head.
