Exciting bit of news for HD genre buffs. Korean flick The Host will be hitting HD-DVD in the summer:

Good stuff, should look lovely.

I was realy impressed with the way the film lookedon standard definition, this is the kind of thing that makes me think about going HD. Perhaps I'll get the HD-DVD drive for my Xbox 360.

Great news. I've been thinking of picking this up since you guys reviewed it. Now I'll hang on a little longer untill the HD version comes out.

I don't know about you Ben but i'm a little dissapointed with the output on HD so far.
There are hardly any genre films coming out, apart from the Thing & The Fog. It's all mainstream fare and mostly stuff that wont really benefit from HD. I mean The Jerk is a great film but is it really going to make the most of a HD release?

We need the likes of Blue Underground & Anchor Bay to start getting some of their back catalogue out on HD.

Dawn Of The Dead in HD anyone ? :D

Now that is a title that could help me make the leap to HD. Plus some Argento and Bava! As for other genre stuff, Land Of The Dead is also out on HD-DVD... that has got some really striking photography in it, so I bet it looks great (i'm pretty sure Ben has it already).

If I had an HD DVD player I'd definitely go for this, the regular R3 DVD was incredibly sharp!

Finally watched The Host last night on HD.

WOW.. Regardless of how good the film is (excellent BTW. Although Korean humour is a little odd) the picture quality is superb. Probably the best HD release i've seen so far. It also showed how good the CGI work is. If it didn't blend with the live action, this disc would have shown it.
