So here it is, the age old question. What is, in your opinion, the best movie of all time.
To make it a little easyer you can put them into catagorys, i.e. comedy, action ect.

Hope this aint to hard, love to know what you guys think. :D

I'm not having any of this 'best' film of all time nonsense. My favourite film of all time however is 2001 A Space Odyssey for all sorts of reasons :D

Simple. Seven Samurai is the greatest move ever made, bar none. The Thing is my favorite horror, Chinatown is my favorite thriller, and Duck Soup my favorite comedy. Aliens is my favorite sequel, though i have a soft spot for Blade 2. Tom Dowd and The Language of Music is my favorite documentary.

And finally, my favorite movie sub-title is Sister Act 2; Back in the Habit.

I reckon I need a new favourite film this year - its been Don't Look Now for too long now . . .

...and I'd never be as arrogant as to state what is THE BEST FILM OF ALL TIME (it's Citizen Kane isn't it?) . . .

Do you think sometimes you just get in the habit of saying a film. I always say On the Waterfront but maybe I like Dazed and Confused or Lebowski better.

Talking of Lebowski... RIP Ben Gazarra. I remember he looked frighteningly fragile in that naff remake of Tzameti, but a damn fine body of work. Annoying how the Cassavetes boxset has gone OOP. I want it noooow . . .

Well I always used to say my fave was Evil Dead and in many ways it still is but recently I find myself saying Robocop! People sneer when I say that as it's not regarded as a 'Sophisticated' choice but you know what that film is timeless! Great characters, great plot, great violence and above all clever and funny satire! A masterpiece (In my eyes)

There probably is no best movie of all time but if there were it would probably be "Seven Samurai" rather than "Citizan Kane" I think. I love both but the latter is a great cinematique exercise and the other a fantastic film. And I also think the latter has dated more than the former. But as said before there really is no best movie.

My favorite movie however is without a doubt "Rollerball". It's the film I've probably seen the most. I love James Caan in this one as he plays essentially two parts the confident sportsman and the insecure celebrety trying to find some sense in everything that's happening around him. Norman Jewison is ofcourse great although I don't love all his films I always enjoy the way he plays with the images.
So in short "Rollerball"!

I say Evil Dead 2 is my favorite movie. I recently watched the Blu ray with the attitude, "It isn't really the best movie ever but it's an interesting answer to the question". But a rewatch renewed my resolve that there is no better.

Robocop, though, it gets better every time I see it.
