I subscribed to Midnight Video to keep up with psychotronic offerings, but I would also like a podcast that deals with more mainstream movies. I tried National Public Radio's podcast because NPR is far and away the best source for news podcasts that I've found, but its movie podcast sucked hind teat. If anyone has a good recommendation, I would be happy to hear it.

It's an obvious choice and you probably already listen to it but just in case you don't try Mark Kermode's film reviews! One of the best critics around

It's here, but you can subscribe via iTunes.

You might want to check Cinerama on iTunes too and/or the 35mm Heroes Podcast. I don't listen to them myself, but they've been recommended to me in the past (although I did meet the guys who run them and very nice chaps they are too).

Since doing Midnight Video I've not really listened to any other podcasts, but I agree with Pardo that the Kermode one is pretty good although his rants can be a little tedious, but he is extremely knowledgeable and the dynamic between non-film buff Simon Mayo and uber-film buff Kermode works well.

When Kermode's not in, you get Nigel Floyd and Boyd Hilton. I hold Nigel Floyd's opinion in very high regard, but Hilton's not as much, though they have very different raisons d'etre, still I always enjoy listening to them.

Also BBC Radio 4s The Film Programme is superb and this I highly recommend. Again it can be found on iTunes. It delves into more arthouse non-Blockbuster territory and often has fascinating interviews. They cover new DVD releases too sometimes.

I gave the Kermode podcast a listen. It was excellent with my only reservation being that the reviewers were a bit long winded.

I'm sure I'll keep listening to it in the future, thank you for your help.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mark Kermode is probably the best film critic here in the Uk! You say the reviews are a little long winded but in a way that's kind of his trademark! As Phurious said his knowledge on films is second to none and he (Kermode) is also one of the mainstream critics who enjoys and sticks up for horror/genre/exploitation cinema also citing 'The Exorcist' as the greatest film ever made so he's one of the good guys in my eyes. A new podcast will be up today (every Friday a new one is released)
