I've only heard about this film festival this year but it sounds great.
Anyone here planning on going?

The film line up looks great with 10 films by Terry Gilliam as well as stuff like 13 Assassins and Hobo with a shotgun.

That looks brilliant, but finances and distance make it to difficult sadly.

70mm print of Dersu Uzala! - That will be bloody incredible.

Also really want to see Essential Killing with Vincent Gallo.

No Brazil though?!

Those two films sound great.
Yeah, I'm hoping to go even if just for a day.
Did you say Dan and Ben were talking about BIFF on one of the podcasts? There's still alot I haven't listened to yet.
Brazil is listed, I'm just not sure which day.

Most have missed Brazil. Would love to see that on the big screen along with Time Bandits and Munchausen. I think 12 Monkeys was the first Gilliam on the big screen, actually no, it was the Fisher King which I managed to sneak into with my step dad who had a go at the ticket person for not believing that his cherubic faced 12 year old was actually 15!

The podcast when Dan and Ben were at the BIFF was number 28, which is split in to 4 or 5 parts. Really good stuff, as per usual.

I dunno, I think I'm still too much of a cheap skate to pay to see films I've already seen up on the big screen! Some other good stuff on the line up though, but thought Bradford was closer to me than that :o I'm rubbish at travelling to places, why can't they all come to me . . . ?

Can't see the point of watching movies, where the print won't have been remastered, as well as travelling cost to get to Bradford, or Hyde Park.

Also the majority of the films that are shown have not been re-certified so any scenes that were cut in the past are still present. For example, Suspiria, that was cut by 1m 13s. It has not been classified uncut, it is only uncut on dvd, so any print of the film that is shown up and down the country is still the 1977 cut version, until someone coughs up the dough to have a new uncut print of the movie be certified again by the BBFC.

What is the point of forking out all that money to see a cut film, when I can enjoy my uncut blu ray in the comfort of my own home?

I'll be sure to check those 2 films out Phurious cheers!
floyd_dylan I don't know what films you are specifically referring to that may show cut, but looks like there will be an uncut showing of Brazil in London at the end of March:

It wasn't actually the BIFF we went to, it was the separate fantasy/horror fest that runs in the summer. But this one looks great - won't be going, but some very cool stuff!

I was referring to Suspiria more than any other. Brazil was never cut over here.

Thanks for the reply Dan.
I'll have to check out the one you mentioned sometime.
I'm actually going to be volunteering at B.I.F.F from tomorrow when it starts so really looking forward to it. My 1st Film Festival since Fright Fest 2010.
I will see if I can write small reviews on the forum for anything new I manage to see.

Cheers floyd_dylan. I actually didn't really like Suspiria, but think I need to give it another watch sometime.

Hey guys - properly out the loop but a mate told me about this....

http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/n ... stic/2011/

In Bradford too - is it apart of this Film festival (which also looks good). Got some great films on there like 'Lets Scare Jessica to Death' & 'CHUD' etc. Is anyone going to this? Or has anyone gone before?

Really not sure = will be a bit of a trek but it looks pretty good....

Pretty sure that's the one Dan and Ben went to.

Looks great, but it's a trek and I'm saving my pennies for Frightfest as I can get the bus home each night after that and kip in my bed!

I know what your saying... pretty cheap weekend tickets though... still not sure about Frightfest this year. Might have to day pass it or might even cherry pick certain films... thanks for the info though!
