Finally its happening...my all-time favoutite movie is hitting Blu-Ray ! Not sure if this will be Region-locked or Region-free...hopefully region-free....

Lionsgate has given us the scoop on the HD debut of Francis Ford Coppola's critically acclaimed masterpiece, due for release on Oct. 19. There will be two versions available, a three-disc Full Disclosure edition, retailing at $59.99, and a two-disc Two Film Set, which will carry an SRP of $39.99. Cinephiles will be especially pleased to note that both the original 1979 theatrical version and the recut Apocalypse Now Redux will be presented for the first time on home video in their original theatrical aspect ratios (2.35:1).

Oh my god! Octobre will prove expensive with the ALIEN boxset coming out and all and now this!
Bliss for me and day one. just imagining the opening sequence in HD on my screen...hmmm. goosebumps!

Thin Red Line in September and this in October is just about all my HD war movie dreams come true.

I fear, however, that it we still won't get in in the correct aspect ratio due to Storaro's ridiculous (and now pretty outdated) demands:

If Criterion couldn't get Last Emporer in 2.35, it's unlikely we'll get this from Lionsgate. Hoping to be proved wrong.....

I think the heat from The Last Emperor DVD transfer caused a re-thinking of the apect ratio....
