Evil Dead is out on US Blu courtesy of Anchor Bay on the 31st of August. I might get this if the word is good, and thanfully it will be only my second copy of Evil Dead on a digital format. I heard that some people collected 4 or 5 copies of this movie down throughout the years... Obviously the sleeve designers at Anchor Bay were worried that customers would be unsure exactly what they were buying so they spelled it out in no uncertain terms....

Hmm... will keep my eyes peeled for this one to see if word of mouth is good. I do miss the old UK British VHS cover art though (funny to imagine that old VHS cover on a super modern high def bluray!).

As much as i love Evil Dead im not sure if ive got room for another disc as i already have 3 versions(uk vhs,uk trilogy version and region 1 spec edition) The extras sound pretty good though

Love that Palace VHS artwork,its so iconic now,stunning.Remember it was the first ever movie poster i had on my wall,unforgettable.

There seems to be a Sony version coming out in the UK soon? Does anyone know if the extras will be the same or just a basic HD version?

It may be time for me to revisit this film. When I saw it in a theatre on its initial release I was terrified by it, and it automatically joined The Exorcist as the scariest time I've ever had at the movies. The two OTT, played-mostly-for-laughs sequels spoiled it for me, and I've not watched the original Evil Dead for many years. Time to see if the original "ultimate experience in grueling horror" has still got it.
