hey all, I realise I am in the Mondo Ghetto meaning the Television Thread.
But let's change that.
What are you watching either on a week by week basis or discovering via dvd.
I finally got around to watching DEADWOOD via DVD. I knew it would be good as it is but there are so many hours in the day, days in the week, etc.

So Lost, Heroes, House, 24, Deadwood, The Sopranos, etc...
What do y'all think?

I am sure it has been posted before if you need to catch up on a show ( i am never sure how long this will last) try this place. Some of the threads come and go more quickly than His Girl Friday...

Feast your eyes...

I love Lost, Sopranos and The Shield, and want to see 24, Prison Break, Deadwood, Heroes etc. I get most of my DVDS from Blockbuster rental and they are on my list, but theres too many mondo movies i've not seen so they are at the top of my list. I've just got Female Convict Scorpion sent :D
Another few sites for movies and tv i use sometimes are alluc.org and quicksilverscreen.com (check out the forums). They just link to you tube and other video sites although some dont last long due to copyright infringement.
I would rather see them on DVD mostly as they are better quality with extras etc.

Most of the shows you mentioned. But here's a different one. Bones. It's fun watching Davey B. and a Deschanel sister get their Moonlighting on.

Yeah - we're big Bones fans in our house too - it's like CSI with humour. Just goes to show how good characters and chemistry can really make a show.

Talking of CSI the latest series has actually been pretty good, if you like that sort of thing - they're trying out some new stuff.

Otherwise I can't argue with anyone who watches Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, How I Met Your Mother, Dexter or Lost (tho I'm not far through the third season). I also enjoyed the first episode of Studio 60, but haven't gotten any further than that yet.

-Sopranos, the best thing to come out of the television
-Deadwood, the best thing to come out of the television since sopranos
-South Park, is still good and is completly far out and crazy but still great
-Veronica Mars, this is not another bullshit OC or Dawsons Creek, it is in the same vaine as Buffy and I think it is better than Buffy.
-Corner gas, a deadpan canadian comedy show, such a relief in a world of american sitcom

I'm a big fan of The Shield, but I'm currently only on season 3 so I've got some catching up to do! To be honest, that's all I watch - there are just too many films crying out for my attention to start on a second show! I guess once I finish The Shield (or get up to date... season 6 on in the US i think, and I know they're finishing with season 7) I'll move onto something else. I've heard from different folks that Heroes, The Wire and Battlestar Galactica are all the best show on TV, so maybe one of those...

(sorry, didn't bring much to this thread! )

Hey Dan,
I totally understand. There are only so many hours in the day for love, work, and then all the other stuff. I've got a stack of books that need reading and a ton of films or shows that I should watch.

I haven't even started the shield. As far as the network stuff goes...you can't go wrong with Heroes or Lost or for even 24 (I was shocked how into 24 I got. I heard so many things about how it was a neo-con's fantasy, etc. ) Just give it a try.
My sister has been telling me to watch The Wire for ages.
The great thing about television today is that you can get into these shows through dvd which takes the whole "have to watch it at this time" thing out.

The HBO stuff is amazing. It's like 13 short films a season. Deadwood has got me right now. Also the coming end of the Sopranos is great. Lost is good but like a lot of the real high arc stuff you have to start from the beginning disc one, episode one...or else you're ....lost..

we are in a kind of golden age for episodic tv. I love the great film and all. But these new shows are just better than most of the junk the majors are turning out...

Veronica Mars is one of the best shows on television. At least it was a year and a half ago, which was when I last watched it. Due to DVR issues and other life-oriented weirdness, I've been out of commission on this show since the middle of Season Two. That doesn't make me less sad about it possibly being on the chopping block.

You mean CSI: NY, right? I really dig on Gary Sinise in most everything he does. Seeing him on television weekly proves that someone in television isn't dumb.

Too bad he wasn't the guy who cancelled Drive. That might still be on.

no - i mean series 7 of normal (?) CSI - just good to see that they're still prepared to try some new tricks even 7 years in - although CSI: NY is pretty good too

Ahhh. Pardon my Yankee.

That's this series, right? With the miniture killer. I have to say, it's repiqued my interest in the series. Plus, having a semi-regular character that's a giant rooster is a bonus.

CSI (all of them) is boring as bat shit, and no amount of fancy montages with DNA tests under purple lights, fast cutting and moving camera will change that.

Every post on every forum is somebody's opinion, it goes without saying.
Except for my last post which is scientifically proven fact.
