Hi all,

Just thought I'd stop by and say 'hello' :D I've only recently discovered the MM show, having introduced myself to the world of podcasts in general a year or so ago, and I've spent the time since then sorting out the wheat from the chafe. Quite what took me so long to get round to Mondo Movie I'm not sure, but within a few minutes of the first episode I listened to, I decided THIS WAS EXACTLY THE SHOW I'D BEEN LOOKING FOR. Since then I've been plowing through several shows per day at work and, without getting too gushy, I really think this is the type of production that fulfills the promise of the internet; enabling knowledgable hosts to discuss movies they care about (as opposed to seemingly treating it as an an excuse to hear the sound of their own voices!). Similarly, I've been lurking round this forum lately and y'all seem like a cool bunch, discussing and recommending stuff with like-minded folks throughout the the world (with a refreshing lack of the type of obnoxious flame-wars that often monopolise these boards). Today alone, I've heard Dan and Ben discuss The Wild Bunch, Shogun Assassin, Vanishing Point, Mario Bava, Coffy, along with too many of the FrightFest-fodder movies to recall. In other words, y'all have cool taste!

I'm lucky enough to have many friends. Problem is, precisely NONE one them are remotely interested in discussing the merits of John Woo (the early stuff!), Vincent Price or Dario Argento with me (which is hardly surprising, given that very few of them would recognise any of these names, given the opportunity, but you get the point!). So podcasts and forums like this truly are a Godsend to the likes of me and instrumental in creating genuine 'communities'.

Anyway, what started as a simple introduction has turned into a press release for the show so I'll stop there. Suffice to say, y'all are doing great work: those who create the show and those who discuss it on these forums, and I look foward to talking mondo with you in the not too distant future.

Now if you'll excuse me, Lovefilm have just stuck Inland Empire through the door.

Peace.

Kris
