A few months ago, my writing partner John Vincent and I started The Mad Dog Movies Podcast to talk about different aspects of indie filmmaking. John has a background in creature effects -- he's worked on "classics" like Freaked, Doctor Mordrid, and Robot Wars.

Mondo Movie has been a big influence for me, so I hope Mondo listeners give us a shot.

Here's a couple recent episodes:

***

Episode 8: Tribute to Stan Winston
http://maddogmovies.com/podcast/archives/33

John and I talk about Roy Frumkes' Definitive Document of the Dead, then discuss
our special effects hero, Stan Winston.

***

Episode 7: Ballyhoo
http://maddogmovies.com/podcast/archives/32

John and I interviewed H.G. Lewis at the Buffalo-Niagara Film
Festival, so we discussed his films and the marketing of exploitation
fare. This led to some talk about Full Moon productions and Charlie
Band, no stranger to big marketing on a small budget.

Hey all. A quick update...

Two more episodes have been posted. Tune in every Monday!

----------------

mdm010 Midnight Movies
http://maddogmovies.com/podcast/archives/65

Is now the time to recapture the glory days of midnight movies? Plus, is Hellboy II the latest film in a trend of eco-horror?

-------------

mdm009 Credits Credits Credits
http://maddogmovies.com/podcast/archives/34

At the end of every movie, hundreds of names zip by on the screen while audiences race to the restrooms. What do all those people do? What is the difference between a production designer and an art director, anyway? Find out in this episode. Plus, John recounts stories from his days working on the locally produced After Image.

I started listening to these a couple of weeks back and have only had time to hear a couple, but am really enjoying so far.

A lot more intelligent, grown up and informative than most.
I was always interested in the technical side of FX and stop motion when I was a kid so that side is interesting to me, but was also great to hear the short interview with Herschel Gordon Lewis I stumbled across while listening to one of them too.
