where do you put all of these films!!

unless you live in the tardis, i guess warehouse, aircraft hangar or massive old mansion must be about right?

i had to sell thousands of vhs tapes a while back to make space for the few thousand dvd's i have in the spare room - floor to ceiling shelving.

relegated loads boxes of comics to the attic and i have to regularly off load books to charity shops to make more space!

most of the titles you buy i have never heard of, so i guess you have all the usual more mainstream stuff as well as all the esoteric gems that you mention on here

how do you find the space to keep them, let alone find the time to watch em all?

Woh! Woh! Hold on there! if YOU had to make room for the FEW THOUSAND DVD's you've got...then you've got more than me!

I have about 920 DVDs (inc box sets) but that goes to about 800 actual titles.
Then add another hundred DVD-R's say.
And a couple of hundred or so VHS.

So in fact you probably have more than me.

Space is in the living room and the front room for DVD's and a couple of cupboards for the remaing VHS (which I have slimmed down over the years).

As for time...Ah! Well now! There be the rub! I have a very large 'To Watch' list yes.
but if you don't pick up the bargains/cool finds when you see them they are gone.
But being a husband and father means that time is indeed short (or just the wrong time to watch something like "Zombie Cock Munchers from the Planet An-Us").

Life is not easy for us fellow film nuts is it!? :P

too many great films and far too little time.

admittedly, i had all my films "stored" in the garage at one stage - in plastic bins to keep out the moisture (i know - the horror, the horror!). its only in the past 12 months that i became organazized, cleared out the garage and chucked out a load of necessary stuff (i can now fit the car in there, yay!) and had a complete redecorate in the house, clearing the spare front bedroom to be dedicated just to films, books and cds. i'm lucky in one respect, am divorced have no kids and can watch the more questionable films whenever i like (well, in my spare time anyway). i too, however have too many films that i have bought and have yet to find the time to watch - but do have firm favourites that are in constant rotation in the player! its good to hear about films i have little knowledge of being discussed with such passion on the show that are so highly recommended that i'm forced to go out and buy.

anyway, back to business.... picked up "the shadow" this morning on amazon for a couple of quid - "i dreamed i tore all the skin off my face and was somebody else underneath"

Kind of a predictable purchase, but it was something I missed at the theatre:

V For Vendetta

Looking forward to checking it out tonight, if things pan out.

Sometimes I think, maybe I should stop buying DVDs for a few months, so I can catch up on my viewing. I've got enough unwatched DVDs to last probably a year or more... but then reality (or rather that Play/HMV sale or whatever) kicks in, and there's another couple of movies on their way to me...!

dan, i've tried this too!

gone on a strict diet and not bought anything for a couple of months and caught up on the stuff i already own. trust me, it doesnt work!

all that happens is you eventually end up going on a huge bender and gorging yourself on tonnes of dvds in a mad spending spree - thus putting yourself back to square one and leaving a big dent in the bank account! :(

I shudder to think how many unwatched discs there are on my shelf (Dan will testify to this). I have promised myself that after the wedding in September i will go on a strict DVD diet.

Well......maybe 1 or 2 a month........

:D

Exchanged a £5 film for £6 credit (I AM THE MAN!) and spent £5.50 of it on:

"The Concrete Jungle" - £2. Grandaddy of the American set WIP films.

"Justine" - £3 Anchor Bay release of Jess Franco's flick.

"Giant Spider Invasion"/"Demon Under Glass" - .50p - Double Bill DVD.
How could I resist "Giant Spider" for those few little pence!
