What film do you guys think most needs a DVD release or a better release?

My list would be
Bad Taste- Needs a way better disc then the one Anchor put out
Mad Magician- Vincent Price gem with Eva Gabor
Student Bodies- Long before Scary Movie, this over the top horror spoof NEEDS to be on dvd
Twins of Evil- Great Hammer film
13 Ghosts (original) needs a new dvd with supplements

For me, its gotta be THE DEVILS, one of the greatest movies of all time...

More human, I think there's a pretty good R2 of TWINS OF EVIL, put out by Network...they also have HANDS OF THE RIPPER and COUNTESS DRACULA....

Well, here's a little more lowbrow slant....

For me, it'd be

Without Warning 1980 (aka It Came Without Warning)

Martin Landau, Jack Palance, David Caruso among other greats.

A bald extraterrestrial Predator comes to earth to hunt humans. Well, to hunt humans with evil mouth-frisbee pets. You can't get cheese like this in the grocery store.

I loved that movie when i saw it back in the 80's! Commander Koenig v Alf :D

Actually, i'd like a proper release of 2010 on dvd. The only release so far is really poor.

Well for me it would be PHASE IV by Saul Bass.
On the surface a typical insect-scifi horror movie, but incredibly smart and fascinating. Its the only feature film that Saul Bass has done apart from his work as a title designer and storyboarder for Hitchcock and other directors.
This film is a visual treat, trippy, philosophical, hypnotic.
I heard somewhere that Anchor Bay might release it in the near future.

@ Plissken: INVASION OF THE BODYSNATCHERS so deserves a Criterion treatment! I love that movie.

Hausu (aka House) - Japanese psychedelic horror

The rest of the Stray Cat Rock series. Cinematheque and HVe gave us Sex Hunter but I also want the other four in the series.

You can get Hausu from Amazon Germany. No english subs, though, and it doesn't look like a very good version.

Yeah, I'm aware of that version but there is a grey market version that is actually much better.

Hey, Erique,

Thx for the info! Will check it out. Looks like a barebones edition though...

Does this version feature the same aspect ratio? I was lucky enough to see the print that was utilized for the german disc two years ago at a festival screening. I vaguely remeber it to be a bit wider than 1:1.33. Also, the projectionist had problems with the masking at first. I'm guessing 1:1.66 as it isn't widely used anymore. IMDB says scope, but that's definitely not the case.

I did a little research. Turns out that 1:1.33 is correct. The cinema I attended the screening at actually cropped it to 1:1.85 because they couldn't handle the "old ratio" anymore!

Still, it's quite a shame they didn't include english subtitles on the official release. Cheap bastards.

I just remembered that I could use a DVD re-release of Ms. 45
