I recently picked up this movie on Netflix and thought it was absolutely terrifying. Has anyone seen this and what are your thoughts

Yeah...Thought it was really good. The closest we have come to doing "Who can kill a Child" which shares the same 'what do you do when faced with this most horrific circumstance' attitude as far as defending yourself against the children goes.

Some great kid acting too and it pulled no punches as far as doing the unthinkable went.

Thought it pretty much worked in all departments. Nice ending too.

Another little Brit gem.

I find myself enjoying more foreign movies than American movies where I am from. I have to say this was so terrifying because it was children and you are right the actors were great. Such angelic faces but OH the horror. The English have raised the bar on this one. This was almost as horrific but on the other side of the spectrum as Inside.

France and Britain have both had a mini boom as far as great horror goes in the last few years.

Yep, another very tasty bit of British horror. A movie like this has to be handled extremely well if it doesn't want to be totally ridiculous, and it pulled it off on every count.

Really enjoyed this with some good scares and nice bit of splatter!
my girlfriend and I were gripped by the time the scene at the bottom of the stairs came!!
I thought this was going to be another creppy kid film where nothing much happens but I was wrong-track this down!

I totally agree. Children are suppose to be angelic and you can't imagine the horror.

Yup, can only add to the praise for this film. A big step up for Tom Shankland, after the uber grim Waz, which I really wasn't keen on. One small thing that bothered me was the use of cheap public domain (I'm assuming) christmas music played at points - was the only thing in an otherwise glossy production that screamed 'cheap!' - also happened in Mum and Dad in that bonkers scene with the kid crucified on the wall . . .

... I take back that last comment - watched it again last night and there is no bad christmas music! They do play a lot of it on the dvd extras though, so must've planted them into the film in my brain . . .

I just want to add my 'ditto' to all of the positive remarks about 'The Children' :) I saw it not really knowing anything about it (which is the best way to watch a film, imo) and really found myself becoming 'involved' with the characters.....especially because of how they introduced the characters in the first 30min or so, and then followed through with the characterizations via their invididual reactions to the horror that unfolds......

and the central 'dilemma' at the heart of the general premise is a brilliant (and luckily, not too over-used) foundation for a horror film :)

I've never really liked killer kids movies but I'll give it a try. For the last year whenever I heard about it, I thought they were talking about that cheap village of the dammed rip off "The Children", a American explotaion film from around 79/80.
