Anyone here read Crossed by Garth Ennis. I've only recently read the last episode and was wondering what anyone else thought.

Don't really think they need to do a volume 2 as I was happy with the resolution and what we got with this book.

Crossed was SICK but I could not stop reading it. I highly recommend it (and other Avatar titles) to the forum members. I think the second volume is supposed to be more from the perspective of the crossed, in other words depraved... we shall see.

Either way it is an almost perfect nightmare world, it reminds me of Romero, Stephen King and Cormac McKarthy (the road) while having a nasty flavor of it's own.

That's a very good summary of Crossed Lugaru!

I'm actually very interested in reading it again as one volume - there are some images that blew my brain (in a very sick way) when I read that book - much worst than say being eaten by the living dead! I think this is one comic book that will not be made into a movie - there's just no way anyone could!

I thought it was interesting that after all the sickness Ennis actually handled the last few episodes with a restrained sensitive hand without it obviously being a cop out (no one got butt raped and mutilated) and there were a few moments of reflection that reminded the characters (and reader) of the moments of beauty that still existed in such a fucked up world.

Highly recommended.

I think the Rob Zombie that made Devils Rejects would do a decent job, but I'm not sure where that Rob Zombie went. Still that movie had a lot of sadistic, messed up stuff perpetrated by crazed rednecks in bright, hangover inducing daylight.

The other obvious comparison with this book is The Walking Dead and honestly that book can be worse at times... like the zombies are window dressing but you see people do some REALLY nasty stuff to each other.

Anyone read the first issue of family values yet?

It is an odd animal... very shocking and awful but overall quite plausible. I'll see where it goes.

Basically a rural clan living on a farm, they are attacked by the "crossed" infected and shit goes bad real quick. Since they are rednecks they have rifles, so they are not helpless. I dont know if he writes the crossed banter that well but still it is dirty and disturbing.

I read Family Values. I know Garth Ennis doesn't want to write anymore Crossed so has handed on the batton and as much as kind of enjoyed Family Values it also felt like the general concept has already been mined and now we are just treading water.
I'll read the next issue but will not be holding my breath like I was with Volume One which wrapped things up quite nicely for me.
