I've just picked up Last Exit to Brooklyn, I fancied a change from the horror genre, and after watching BBC 4's book season, I thought I'd explore the rest of my book collection that I've picked up over the years.

This edition is the 1975 Post-trial edition, complete and unexpurgated, and introduced by Anthony Burgess.

Damn that's a book that takes misery to another level. Superb nevertheless.

If people want to complain about the lack of grammar, and punctuations in books, as well as various websites etc, then I will refer them to this book.

Christ it's a perplexing read.

Pedants unite

I love challenging prose and along with Burroughs, Moorcock and Joyce I suppose this could be included.

It's like when I read A Clockwork Orange for the first time as a youngster, I just couldn't get my head around it, but then a rhythm develops and you find yourself sucked in completely.

I should revisit this perhaps. I just read an excerpt online and it pulled me in again. There's nothing like breaking conventions to stir things up I suppose (not to mention the violence and abuse that Selby Jr conjures up).

Another interesting read is Kerouac's On The Road: Original Scroll - it really feels like you're whacked up on benzedrine, the frenetic pace of the writing is something to behold.

I am currently reading last part of the harry potter i.e Deathly hallows......
