The inimitable Mr Newman's fantastic Nightmare Movies is being updated and will be available in mid April.

He will also be in conversation with Mark Kermode at the BFI in London at the end of April which will include a special screening of Let's Scare Jessica to Death.

Details here.

Can't wait for this new version - as anyone who has heard our first book special will know, Nightmare Movies was a massively important book when I was really getting into horror movies in the late 80s - and still I think the best written book on the subject I've ever read. I don't think a week goes by when I don't look a movie up in my rather dog-eared 23-year-old copy! So a new updated version is a very exciting prospect...

Wow 640 pages! Sounds like a must-buy to me. I was getting this confused with the updated horror book he did with James Marriott, which looks much less comprehensive . . .

Yeh, I was flicking through that at Frighfest, not too shabby. I like Newman's writing in general though.

Can anyone tell me if the new edition included much photographic material? Would like to buy it for Kinde, but am wondering if the ebook edition is missing the photographs. I don't see any in the free sample of the first couple of chapters..

To answer my own question - the Kindle edition has a section of photographic material at the end of the book, although fairly low res.
