JWebb from the Hollywood Saloon forums shares the news that Best Buy is offering the same player for $99 (a dollar more!), with FREE COPIES of John Carpenter's The Thing and The 40 Year Old Virgin included! He got his there today!

Of course, my local Best Buy sold out in about ten minutes, according to the clerk on the phone.

Yeah, by the time I heard about the deals at Wal-Mart and Best Buy, it was too late. *sniff*

Today's IMDB Studio Briefing is reporting that WalMart and Best Buys nationwide are reporting sellouts of the player. I wasn't able to snag one either.

I took the plunge and was able to get this year's entry-level model for $199. I have to say that I'm impressed with the format, though the time it takes the machine to start up and load a disc is interminable!

Would you believe the darned thing quit working within a week. I couldn't get an exchange from Best Buy because I bought it online, so I got a refund. Of course that also meant that I couldn't afford to get a new one since the price had jacked back up to $299. I'm done with the HD formats until it's decided once and for all. Too many headaches.
