Been thinking about movies I wish I had seen when they were released..like the Thing, or Gremlins, or Terminator 1.
Then thought about movies I wish i hadnt bothered to see-top of my list is Explorers. I can remember little about it-hardly -no-never hear it talked about.
Creepshow 2 dont recall it well. Something with George Kennedy and a wooden indian.

Big Trouble in Little China though I watched it a few times on video afterwards so maybe its not worthy of inclusion.

if you see every movie that comes out it isnt such a big deal but I was a very fussy theater goer especially as video came along.

I saw ET I should have seen the Thing as I was reading about it in Famous Monsters at the time.

Top of my list is The Road Warrior. I'm not sure now why I didn't see it theatrically, though the reason may have been that it was rated Restricted and I was 16 at the time. In 1982 I went to see Blade Runner though, and that was Restricted, in fact it was the first Restricted movie I got into underage. Too bad I couldn't have made Road Warrior my first underage sneak-in.

RW is still on my top ten favourite films list. However, I can't help regretting that I didn't see it in 70MM Six-Track Dolby Stereo. Mind-blowing it would have been.

I have the original souvenir magazine for Bladerunner which i bought at the time. Kind of strange i would buy a magazine about a movie(and a comic) and not see the movie??

I saw Star Wars in a drive in and fell asleep near the end--so I wonder if my perception of it would have been different had I seen it theatrically.
Superman was the first I saw theatrically I think and left a big impact. Before that I saw most movies in drive ins. Good for scary movies not so good for all kinds.

Speaking of the Road Warrior check out this music video I don't know for sure but it's pretty obvious it's inspired by Mad Max. One of the best music videos i've seen for years, the song is also pretty amazing as well

I did see Road Warrior in the theater back in the day, but I don't know where you get this "70mm six-track Dolby stereo" stuff. This was a low-budget Australian action movie, and I don't think it was getting the red carpet treatment in too many places. I believe I saw it in a theater where the seats weren't even staggered or sloped. I remember the volume was turned up pretty high and it was loud, but probably monophonic. The best thing about it was seeing it in the theater was that I was age 15 and it was a new movie, and a sleeper really, and no one had any preconceived notions.

When it came out I lived in Edmonton, Alberta, and the ads for the film said it was in "70MM, six-track Dolby Stereo." I distinctly remember the ads. Perhaps there were 70MM prints created later? Here's an ad for a 70MM showing: http://madmax.tribe.net/thread/40da5a84 ... 7dc992302b

Here's another ad: http://www.americancinematheque.com/arc ... ET2009.htm

So obviously there are 70MM prints of Road Warrior, and I'm not just dreaming it.

Also, check this link: http://technicolordreams70.wordpress.co ... val-fever/

It includes a scan of an original Road Warrior newspaper ad. The ad, as you'll notice, includes the line: "70MM - 6 Track Dolby Stereo."
