I did see Cabin Fever 2 though, which I think he wasn't too pleased with himself, but I quite enjoyed it.

Yeah I seem to recall tales of a troubled production with studio interference and whatnot. From what I can remember, I hated the film :D. I did enjoy an earlier film by him though, The Roost, reckon the fellow's got a promising future . . .

I just watched "Angst" thanks to phurious. Thanks mate! That was the most intimate look into a psychopath on screen ever. Superbly acted by Erwin Leder. Just an incredibly believable performance. And the cinema-photography is up there with any Argento film. Beautifully shot. I love the swivel cam stuff that follows him through out the house. Never seen that type of stuff before

Great to hear that you enjoyed it man. It's quite something. Such a shame that Kargl never made any more films as Angst cleaned him out financially.

There's an interesting interview with him here.

Also the innovative cinematographer he worked with Zbigniew Rybczynski has done some interesting work, mainly music vids (his wiki page lists them all here - but something that is unmissable is The Orchestra (1990) which is some very impressive video art based around classical music pieces (incidentally my mate and I have reviewed this for our next podcast, which will be available tomorrow from the link below in my signature if you're interested).

I've discovered loads thanks to Mondo Movie. Too many to mention here but Ben and Dan recommending Takashi Miike was a revelation, and Black Book springs immediately to mind as well.

I'm currently going through all the podcasts again in order and picking up on some films I missed first time round, and my To Watch Pile has nearly doubled!

Just watched Love Exposure. Craziest film I have ever seen, but really good.
