Wow. Great find Kel, thanks.

Incredibly detailed insights in to del Toro's mind and creative process. At the Mountains of Madness could be something very special indeed.

Just ploughed through this - a fascinating insight, and surprising amount of behind the scenes access. I particularly enjoyed the bit with the feedback on the Frankenstein monster :D. With Frankenstein and Madness still his only future credits on the imdb, I imagine it will be a while before we see any new work from him. It will be amazing if he can pull them off with minimal studio interference . . .

'At the Mountains of Madness' project dead in the water

Not entirely surprised by this sad news. You could sense the fragility of the project in the New Yorker article. Also, the article doesn't mention Frankenstien, but something called Pacific Rim as his next potential project . . .

First of all Guillermo is a personal favorite, so thanks for the article.

I'm 50/50 on "At the mountains..." being canceled.

It is one of my least favorite Lovecraft stories... instead of playing with your imagination it feels more like a "monster manual" of his mythos creatures.

I would love it if Guillermo did a much cheaper film such as Colour out of Space, Dunwich Horror or perhaps The Case of Dexter Ward.

You know... small town, scary happenings out of the corner of your eye and some big nasty climax.
