A couple of George Pal films I am fond of--Atlantis the Lost Continent --seems impossible to find on dvd-but its definitely got a lot going for it, not the least a sorcerer who turns men into minotaur creatures to work the Atlantean mines and a death laser ray that a bad guy uses to blast fleeing citizens.

The early scenes with the fish-like submarine was very cool. I recall the main character goes from being rather dumb and carefree to serious and miserable.

Also Doc Savage Man of Bronze.

Yes I enjoyed Predator 2 much more than Predators. I think I liked Requiem more than Predators as well. I like a root canal more than Predators.

I could mention others like the Killer Shrews or Night of the Big Heat or the Boy Who Cried Werewolf or Horror Express but I am not sure where they fall in the bad movie category considering they are more obscure.
How can Horror Express be bad?-it has Telly Savalas!

Deep Blue Sea is another--but is it a bad movie?
I think the definition of bad when referring to genre movies gets tricky--there is genre bad and mainstream bad.
It is like the term "cheesy movie"--I never use it-dont really understand it. Seems like an elitist term aimed at disparaging films that take risks with imagination and limited budgets.

Oh speaking of which, cant forget Shock Waves!

And
Scream and Scream Again is a great cinematic achievement IMO.

Oh my god, you as well? I saw this at the cinema on release making me 6 on my working out! That scene has always stuck with me because it freaked me out and i've never seen it since! I've tried hunting it on Youtube but can never find it! I'm not sure I want to see it tho, it may be one of those things that is better left to your imagination because seeing it now would ruin it.

Yes it's an enduring terrifying image from my childhood, along with:

A hanged Gena Davis ripping her face off in Beetlejuice.

The crazed Judge Doom at the end of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The nanny hanging herself in The Omen (I was way to young to be watching that one ).

Maybe we should have a seperate thread for this . . . ?

Judge Dredd.
A lot of troma movies
All the Punisher movies.
Raw head Rex.
Redneck zombies.
Glen or Glenda-I know it's a cult movie but it's still bad-
Uwe Bolls rampage, seed and tunnel rats.
Rob Zombies Halloween movies.
Spider-man 3
Double agent 73 and Deadly Weapons.
Some Danny Dyer films.
Revolver is a great film.

The Phantom Menace.... Ha, not really. That would be inexcusable.

The Shadow and The Phantom, particularly the former. I'm a sucker for Alex Baldwin and Billy Zane just cracks me up regardless.

Deep Rising and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen I also liked though I havent read the latter.

As movies and not faithful interpretations of the source material I liked Judge Dredd and the Shadow although the Phantom not quite so much.

Shadow had some memorable lines

"I guess you would call it a implosive explosive sub-molecular device."

"Or an atomic bomb."

"Hey..that's catchy."

The subject of Howard The Duck came up on Twitter the other day. That's one that definitely fits this thread!

The one I always trot out when people talk about bad films they love is Maximum Overdrive. I adore it!

No one's mentioned Hudson Hawk - the guiltiest of guilty pleasures... or is it just me?

To be fair it fits more into the 'so bad it's good' category. Always worth a viewing in my opinion, but it is bad, no seriously.

The legendary Stray Cat Rock film series. Especially the best part, Sex Hunter, is a strong "guilty" pleasure for me. I'm beyond feeling guilt at this point, though.

Let me just say that finding enjoyable bad movies is my life's work. I spend 50% of my time on the Internet researching good/bad movies, 30% on news and e-mail and the rest on, um, "miscellaneous". So much so I get annoyed when people confuse under-rated or purposefully ridiculous (Killer Klowns from Outer Space) for enjoyable bad. It has to be an accident. These are the best/bad movies that I've encountered.

Winterbeast
The Executioner, Part II
Black Devil Doll From Hell
Lady Terminator
The Last Slumber Party
Evil Laugh
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley
Silent Night, Deadly Night 2
Lady Street Fighter
Disco Godfather
Samurai Cop

I tried to boil it down to ten and couldn't.

Aaaaaaand now I'm realizing that you were precluding the movies that I mentioned. But The Happening is an enjoyable bad movie, just a recent one. It warms my heart that they continue on. It's not just that the 80' s are ridiculous.
