Dolfje Weerwolfje (6/10)

A trip the local art house cinema, to see a first for me: a family werewolf film.

Based on a dutch series of kids books, about Dolfje a blonde 7 year old glasses wear werewolf.
It has very simply story of boy left on a family's the doorstep, who turns into a werewolf on he's 7th birthday. It was quite funny with his cross-dressing 'Father' & real granda who's a grey haired raincoat & trilby wearing werewolf who hides in the park- I had to keep reminding myself that was kids film. It's a sort pre-teen wolf even down to the red college jacket he wears (with D on it).
Really the only thing to hate in this film the horrible CGI, nice to Dolfje running on all four ; shame he look like a cross between a sheep & bleached toy poodle :(

I did make think are any other films that has child werewolf in them ?

Just saw PREY (1978) last night. That was good for a no budget sex/gore thiller (3 out of 4). Just saw CLASS OF 1984 today. Great film. Wish it was more known. (3 out of 4).

My Recent Films were 'Wrath of the Titans' and 'Piranha3DD'.
None of them was great to watch, However, Wrath of the Titans was an OK film and was good for one time watch, while Piranha DD was crap and was nothing like its previous installment.
My Verdict:
Wrath of The Titans:6/10

Piranha3DD: 4/10

I haven't been here in ages and I don't see anywhere else to post my non sequitur, so.......

I just want to say that the choice of the still of Isabelle Adjani in 'Possession' as the current site pic is awesome :)

Although, I far prefer this one:) :

Isabelle Adjani in possession. Fucking hell. One of my favorite female performances of all time. Love that crazy film.

Latest film I watched? A rewatch of The Salton Sea. I have to admit I like that film more that is in anyway reasonable. Vincent D'Onofrio makes a great villain. JFK assasination staged with pigeons? Hells yeah!

Yes!! that damn prosthetic 'nose' and the pigeons! I've only seen it once, years ago, but that's precisely what has lingered in my mind all this time :)

People posting!

Joined this site and thought it was dead.

"I saw the Devil" - from LOVEfilm - Korean and very interesting. Not at all how a western revenge film would be written.

Korean horror is still top notch.

Just typed in "Devil" into Lovefilm and now have several horrors to enjoy - a random way to find new things.

Day of the Dead - Savini's behind the scenes home movies
This disc contains about four hours worth of footage taken by Savini and crew during the Day of the Dead shoot. Fascinating viewing. Also a "must have" for any Savini or Romero fan. A+
** Note that this footage is taken from an old VHS source, so it will probably look a little gritty if you're used to digital clarity.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
I've always loved this film since the days of rabbit ears and UHF stations. A film that has aged to perfection as well. There's a bd of this that came out recently. Think I'll pick it up. Another A+

A Special Cop In Action
Very good Euro-crime starring Maurizio Merli as, you guessed it, a good cop pushed to the limits by bureaucratic red tape and corruption. Enjoyed this film very much, but felt very let down by the ending. That's why I'm only giving it a B+.

Massacre Mafia Style
I bought this disc after seeing the trailer for the film. The film itself is an amazing piece of 70s exploitation. As with A Special Cop In Action, it could have done with a better ending though. Still I'm giving it an A just because it's so damn watchable.

Destroy All Monsters
Easily my favorite Godzilla film made in color. This is another childhood favorite from the UHF days as well. Also, the Media Blasters disc looks amazing. A+
